Mii Fit?
February 8, 2010 at 10:32 pm | In Boyfriend, Food, High School, fitness, health | 1 CommentToday was the first day of my second week of the couch to 5k program and I feel great. Granted, I’m still in the 20 minute stage, but the gradual steps are just what I need to get back into shape. In addition to my run, I did a ten minute ab workout (thank you Comcast on demand) and set up my Wii fit plus.
I’ve been waiting forever to get my wii fit and now that I have it I realize, it’s hard. None of the games or exercises I tried made me break a sweat but controlling my balance on that tiny and fickle board was difficult. Still, I got my Wii fit age and it’s 27, which my age so I say that’s pretty darn good.
Unforunately Wii fit age has nothing to do with actual physical appearance and while I’m happy with the way I look, I have 2 count ‘em two reunions to go to. The first one is LL3’s ten year reunion (which is a year late but who’s counting) in June. This one is not as important to me because, well, I’m never going to see most of those people again. I do want to be good arm candy for LL3 though.
My ten year reunion is this November! I found out lamely on facebook that thankfully my best friend checked and gave me the info. Who lets people know about their high school reunion via facebook? I sincerely hope we get formal invitations despite the ridiculously informal plans for our “big” night.
I’ve mentioned before that I’m anxious and not exactly excited about my reunion. If I’m going there as a single unmarried and career stunted woman, then I better look good! Running 5k is not going to cut it so I have to kick it up a notch.
I am not sure that I thought about this before I decided (and announced it on Twitter), but I’m giving up cake, cookies, ice cream, donuts, and muffins. I knew I had to cut down my sugar intake and decided on the things I eat most. I still can’t believe I included cake, considering I make and decorate cakes! My plan is to stick to my ban for as long as I can. I’m not going to set a time limit, just go on old fashioned will power. I successfully gave up soda, so I’m hopeful.
I’ll keep posting my progress on here to achieve my fitness goals. My Wii goal is to lose 6 pounds in 2 weeks, which is definitely doable, but this is coming from a girl who hasn’t had significant weight loss in months. Wish me luck, and if I cheat on my ban, I will definitely own up to it.
Snowed In
February 6, 2010 at 10:49 pm | In Cat, Philly, Sterling | 2 CommentsBeing snowed in by yourself gives you a lot of time to think and reflect and find out things. Like I discovered I love to shovel. It was legitimately the first time I’ve ever had to shovel snow by myself and my goal was to dig my car out before the snow became harder to move overnight. The soft snow that piled on top of the car was beautiful, white, and light.
The air didn’t feel bitter and ruthless as it does on most winter days. Snow seems to release some cold from the atmosphere. My tiny shovel from CVS held up really well even with the heavy packed piles that the plows left. A total of two people asked me if they could help, one wanted to be paid for his efforts. Umm, no thanks. I really liked shoveling so I didn’t want any help. I’m not sure how long it took me to finish, but I shoveled mostly all around the car as well as a path from the plowed sidewalk to the street. I’m sure once I move my car that parking spot will be taken, but oh well. The only down side was this city truck driving up and down to plow the street, but also to literally shoot salt all over. He got my legs and you should have heard the sound it made hitting the cars, ouch.
After I finished shoveling I thought it was so beautiful out that I had to take a walk and took some pictures along the way. Check out the result of our “Snomageddon” here in Philly, a total of 28.5 inches fell!
Hope you have a great weekend snowed in or not.
LOL Cat
February 5, 2010 at 6:51 pm | In Sterling, Vlog, pets | Leave a CommentI thought it being a Friday and a snowstorm is on the way that I would share this video I took of my cat acting his usual crazy self for a break from the heavy. Sterling is such a punk I could probably tell you a million stories. Like how he killed my lap top charger (twice) and how he dug through my cake stuff and took out the bag of straws and I’m still finding them around the house.
Before you watch the vid below let me explain that I haven’t let Sterling sleep in my room when I go to bed for at least a year. He tends to get hyper and wake me up when that happens. So he’s been finding ways to stay in the room, the latest being the most effective: hiding under the couch. Check him out in action, I wasn’t even going to sleep yet.
Disclaimer: Yes, my room is a mess BUT in my defense, it was laundry day. Thank you.
Have a GREAT weekend!
